Curved glass (also called bent glass) is produced by heating flat glass to a high temperature (approximately 600โ700ยฐC) and bending it into a specific radius using specialized furnaces with precision molds. The glass can then be tempered during the cooling process for added strength.
Curved glass is widely used in modern architecture for its ability to create smooth, continuous facade lines, panoramic views, and distinctive building identities. It can be further processed into laminated curved glass, curved IGU, and curved Low-E glass for enhanced performance.

What is the minimum radius for curved glass?
The minimum radius depends on glass thickness and type. For standard curved tempered glass, the minimum R-value starts from approximately R200mm for smaller panels. Thicker glass and laminated configurations require larger radii. Send us your drawings and our engineering team will confirm feasibility.
Can curved glass be laminated?
Yes. Curved laminated glass is widely used for safety-critical applications such as overhead glazing, balustrades, and hurricane-rated facades. We produce curved laminated glass with PVB or SGP interlayer, and can combine it with Low-E coating for energy performance.
Is curved glass tempered?
Most architectural curved glass is tempered during the bending process โ the glass is heated, bent to shape, and then rapidly cooled. This provides 4-5x the strength of annealed glass. For applications requiring post-breakage barrier, we recommend curved tempered + laminated combination.
What is the maximum size for curved glass?
Our North Glass furnace can produce curved panels with arc lengths up to 6,800mm. The maximum glass height depends on the radius โ for example, at R3,000mm we can produce panels up to 18,000mm height. Please provide your specific dimensions for confirmation.
Does curved glass have optical distortion?
Slight optical distortion (such as roller wave and quench marks) is inherent to curved tempered glass and is within industry-accepted standards. Our North Glass furnace minimizes these effects through advanced temperature control. For critical visual areas, we can produce test panels for your approval before bulk production.
